Faced with the dual challenges of “power shortages and insufficient grid resilience” amid the global energy transition, as well as the emerging trend under the upcoming Energy Management Act—which will require large electricity consumers to install “on-site power generation and energy storage equipment”—Phison Electronics has joined forces with Apollo Power and Tesla Energy to proactively build a resilient power grid.
On the computing front, Phison utilizes its aiDAPTIV+ technology, which extends memory through Flash architecture to lower GPU costs, enabling on-premises training while addressing data sovereignty and security concerns. On the energy front, Apollo Power provides the behind-the-meter (BTM) energy storage, Energy Management Systems (EMS) smart dispatching, and green energy allocation required for on-premises AI deployment, making energy storage the “energy insurance for AI operations.” On the technical front, the core infrastructure is the Tesla Megapack 2 XL Grid-Forming energy storage system. Compared to traditional grid-following storage, grid-forming technology actively establishes and stabilizes voltage and frequency, possesses black-start capabilities, and can independently create microgrids to support high proportions of renewable energy grid integration. Its millisecond-level, full-power ultra-fast response is far superior to traditional diesel generator sets, effectively smoothing loads and stabilizing the Rate of Change of Frequency (RoCoF). The system utilizes Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, paired with active fire suppression, IP68 protection, and 24/7 remote monitoring, and comes with up to a 20-year original manufacturer system warranty, comprehensively balancing safety and reliability.
The core advantage of this energy storage system lies in its ability to transform “uncontrollable electricity” into a “flexibly dispatchable asset.” The millisecond-level, ultra-fast full-power injection provides inertia support and mitigates the risk of equipment trips caused by external power voltage drops. This stabilizes the factory’s power supply, preventing operational losses resulting from disruptions in R&D, testing, and equipment operations. Furthermore, it reduces corporate operating costs. Through Phison’s aiDAPTIV+ technology and Apollo Power’s self-developed smart EMS, the factory’s power load is managed around the clock. By leveraging “peak shaving and valley filling”—charging during off-peak hours, discharging during peak hours, and participating in Taipower’s ancillary services—the system achieves significant electricity bill savings. This not only increases the self-consumption rate of green energy and reduces reliance on traditional carbon-emitting power but also accelerates the enterprise’s journey toward the 2050 Net-Zero goal.
