Phison Announces PS5007-E7, PCIe Gen3x4 SSD controller with NVMe Specification

Flash Memory Summit, Santa Clara (August 11, 2015) –

Today Phison Electronics Corporation (8299.TW) announced its availability of the company’s first ultra-high speed Gen3x4 NVMe SSD controller, the PS5007-E7. With 8-channel transfer speeds and 64CE support capable of up to 4TB capacity, PS5007-E7 is not only the best solution for the gaming and high-end PC markets, but also a perfect choice for enterprise servers and data center applications. The Phison PS5007-E7 will be begin shipping on October of 2015.

PS5007-E7 supports 1Znm SLC/MLC/TLC as well as the latest 3D NAND. Working with 1Z MLC, PS5007-E7 delivers speeds over 2600 MB/s sequential read and over 1300 MB/s sequential write, with random 4K up to 350,000 IOPS read and 250,000 IOPS write performance. The controller supports up to 2 Terabytes today and will expand to 4 Terabytes in the coming future. PS5007-E7 also supports NVMe L1 sub-state with less than 5mW in L1.2 low power mode, a key requirement for next generation notebook.

Phison is the first Taiwanese design-house to release a PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe controller to production.  Phison also develops hardware and firmware technology to elevate SSD performance and endurance. PS5007-E7 is built with end-to-end data path protection circuits and a SmartECCTM engine to ensure data integrity in high speed transfer. Utilizing firmware algorithms such as SmartFlushTM and an optional P-fail circuitry to prevent in-flight data loss from sudden power interruptions, as well as advanced security features compliant with TCG Opal 2.0 and TCG Enterprise standards driven with a 256bit AES engine.
