Phison Electronics recently hosted its 2026 “Let’s Learn and Grow Together” volunteer charity event, themed “Net-Zero Carbon × Succulent Potting DIY.” By blending environmental education with engaging, hands-on activities, the initiative enabled children to experience firsthand the importance of protecting our planet, fostering a spirit of care and environmental stewardship in the next generation.
The event began with an environmental education session, using vivid illustrations and concise explanations to highlight the impacts of climate change. Key topics included the increasing frequency of extreme weather events (such as hurricanes, floods, droughts, wildfires, and heatwaves), rising sea levels, loss of biodiversity, uneven water resource distribution, and declining agricultural productivity. The session then delved into the concept of “net-zero carbon emissions,” explaining that its core objective is to balance anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions with removal efforts. This is achieved by reducing emissions and implementing offset measures—such as developing renewable energy, deploying carbon capture and storage technologies, and preserving natural carbon sinks like forests and oceans—ultimately aiming for zero net emissions.
To help children grasp this abstract concept, the facilitators used relatable analogies and encouraged practical actions in daily life. Participants were guided to adopt eco-friendly habits, such as using public transportation, choosing energy-efficient appliances, minimizing food waste, selecting locally sourced ingredients, and protecting natural carbon sinks like forests, soil, and oceans.
Following the educational segment, the event moved to the highly anticipated “Succulent Potting DIY” workshop. Under the guidance of volunteer mentors, children carefully transplanted succulents into ceramic pots inscribed with the event’s slogan, “Let’s Learn and Grow Together.” They then added decorative sand and packed their creations into elegant gift boxes. Each step was filled with joy and anticipation, and the children’s faces beamed with pride as they admired the green mini-landscapes they had crafted with their own hands.
